Adaptaton

a herbally infused, elevated CBD product line.

A Little Insight:

Adaptation was created as a more premium line of CBD products, also sold at Anthology (see that here), with the intent that it would launch as wholesale product line.

At the time I filed multiple trademarks (both for Anthology and Adaptation) and soon enough found that Adaptation can go through with a little back and forth with the USPT office, but Anthologyโ€™s product line was a dead end. I worked with a super savvy lawyer, and learned a lot through this process, and found trademark laws are fascinating!

So, I waved goodbye to Anthology as a product line in 2019, but kept the theanthologyshop.com online store, and expanded the Adaptation product line thanks to analytics + customer insights. ๐Ÿค“

The above photos and Nano in action, were taken as part of a little product shoot collaboration with some Philly friends.

Nano Launch

What made Adaptation very different from any other CBD brand is that many of the products were developed using Nano. Nano is pretty high tech because it involves a shrunken down CBD molecule, making the CBD water soluble and allowed for a very potent, fast acting product. While everyone else was using distillate (oil), we were totally ahead of the curve.

The Nano pairs fantastically with beverages, and we needed to get the word out.

A bar/lifestyle shop, known as Art in the Age, based in Philly, was hosting all kinds of cocktail making workshops at the time and needed something new and unique. So their head mixologist reached out and came up with some ideas- featuring The Nano. AITA hosted a CBD mocktail workshop, which was so popular it sold immediately, so much so, they turned it into a CBD series.

(below are some of their creations)

Products + Packaging

The original packaging you can see above, but after a few months of getting customer feedback it was time to change up a couple of products and packaging. Analytics really came in handy because you can see what types of products your customers are looking for and gain really good insights.

CBD skincare was gaining more traction. The salves made more sense as a deodorant style stick rather than a tin, no oil on your hands. CBD baths were popular, so it made sense to introduce a variety of products. And the formulation team was releasing a Nano CBD infused sugar - hello skin scrub products!

Social + The Look

I wanted something that looked very curated, while also a nod to the fact that the product is from the PNW. My thinking was to juxtapose calming products + moody nature. Think sleepy winter weather, the relaxing feeling from rain - a lot of โ€˜take a breatherโ€™ type video content, while concentrating on everyday wellness tips.

I treated certain seasons like chapters stylistically: darkness of winter to the days getting more light.

Video Content

I shot & edited a mix of stop motion videos + cinemagraphs that loop + slow motion vids.

The content eventually involved into teasers, new product drops + sales, and a focus on email marketing.
